James Dugan ("J.D.") Gorman, Jr. – Obituary and Assessment Call

J.D. Gorman Jr.J.D. Gorman Jr., son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Dugan Sr. and Opal Gorman, was born January 9, 1936 in Novice and passed away at the Laredo Medical Center in Laredo.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, in the Walker Funeral Home Chapel with the Texas Parks and Wildlife as Color Guard and Alvin McMeans officiating. Burial will follow at Rough Creek Cemetery at Novice.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22, at Walker Funeral Home.

J.D. was a graduate of Novice High School in 1954. He married Darlene Fay Gayler in Coleman June 14, 1955. He was a member of the 36th Division National Guard of Coleman for 8 years. They moved to Zapata, Texas 44 years ago and had retired from the Texas Parks and Wildlife as a Game Warden for 36 years. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include: his wife - Darlene Gorman of Zapata; two daughters - Gay Fay Oxford of Lytle, Texas and Joy Lynn and son-in-law David Oxford of Germany; one sister - June Rogers; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Mutual Association (TPWD Mutual Association) regrets to inform you of the death of another of our members, James Dugan (J.D.) Gorman, Jr., age 71.

J.D. became a member of the TPWD Mutual Association on January 4, 1967. He retained his membership up until his death on March 20, 2007.

Additional information on J.D. may be found on the reverse side of this assessment letter.

A check in the amount of $3,600.00 was delivered to J.D.’s wife, Darlene Fay, on March 22, 2007.

An assessment in the amount of $10.00 will be necessary to bring the policy fund back into balance to have payments on hand for two members in case of death. Please make this payment by April 22, 2007.
