Concessions

Concessions are a significant element in the Texas State Park System. Today, state park concessions offer increased economic benefit in many smaller communities, while generating revenues to help reduce the cost of operating Texas State Parks . Typical concessions are marinas, recreational equipment rentals, food service operations, equestrian facilities, park stores, and other accommodations. A concession may be as simple as vending machines or as complex as a resort development at Ray Roberts Lake or a golf course at Bastrop State Park. The purpose of offering a concession program is to seek public/private partnerships and assistance, where appropriate, and to provide quality services, programs, and facilities that enhance the enjoyment and provide convenience and recreational experiences for state park visitors.

Our goals are:

  1. Developing and maintaining concession facilities and services that contribute to high quality experiences for park visitors
  2. Seeking new opportunities to improve and provide services, programs, and facilities to park visitors through concessions

Current Concession Opportunities

  • Leased Concession Opportunity: McKinney Falls State Park
    What: Mobile Food Concession
    Opening Date: December 3, 2012
    Closing Date:Open until further notice
    Description: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is requesting proposals for the implementation and operation of a seasonal mobile food service concession. The Concessionaire is required to invest in this operation. Persons interested in submitting a proposal may request a RFP Packet (Short-Term Prospectus) by e-mailing Rhoda Anderson or mailing McKinney Falls State Park, 5808 McKinney Falls Parkway, Austin, Texas 78744.

  • Leased Concession Opportunity: Cleburne State Park
    What: Implementation and operation of Park Convenience Store with Water Recreational Equipment Rentals.
    Opening Date: November 9, 2011
    Closing Date: Open until further notice
    Description: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department intends to award a leased concession contract through a "Request for Proposal" process for the implementation and operation of Park Convenience Store with Water Recreational Equipment Rentals.  The Concessionaire is required to invest in the development and operation.   • Leased Concession Opportunity: Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site
    What: Implementation and operation of a Deli-Style Food Service Concession Operation.
    Closing Date: Open until further notice.
    Description: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department intends to award a leased concession contract through a "Request for Proposal" process for the operation of a Deli-Style Food Service Operation.
