Briefing
Economic Contributions of Texas State Parks
January 2005

I. Executive Summary: Staff will provide a briefing on the economic contributions of Texas State Parks on their home counties.

II. Discussion: The Texas Coalition for Conservation, in support of Texas State Parks, commissioned two phases of a study to identify the economic contributions of 78 state parks on their home counties. Texas A&M University, Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences was contracted to provide the analysis and reports. The Impact on Sales, Impact on Personal Income, and Number of Full-Time Equivalent Jobs Created in the county where a state park is located are the key results from this study. A slide presentation on an example of the study results will follow.
