Acceptance of Land Donation – Hidalgo County
Taormina and Chapote Units of the
Las Palomas Wildlife Management Area
May 27, 2010
I. Executive Summary: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has been offered a donation of approximately 1 acre as an addition to the Taormina and Chapote Units of the Las Palomas Wildlife Management Area (WMA).
II. Discussion: TPWD has been offered the donation of approximately one acre from an adjacent landowner at the Taormina and Chapote Units of the Las Palomas WMA. This acre donation will provide additional access between the two units that provide hunting and recreational opportunities to the public.
III. Recommendation: The staff recommends the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission adopt the following motion:
"The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission authorizes the Executive Director to take all necessary steps to accept a donation of a one acre tract of land as an addition to the Taormina and Chapote Units of the Las Palomas WMA.”
