Title: Inland Fisheries Intern
Number of Positions: 1
Responsibilities & Duties:
Assists in fisheries management activities, instream flow studies, research and applied management projects on the lower Guadalupe River. Duties include participation in field based data collection, data entry, assisting in data analysis, and assisting in development of public scoping surveys and meetings.
Requirements:
Must meet program eligibility:
1) 2.0 GPA
2) At least 12 completed college credit hours by end of Fall Semester 2011
3) Currently enrolled in college at time of applicationThe successful candidate should have the physical ability to participate in all field based activities, ability to work in inclement weather, ability to record biological information, ability to identify common species of fish, ability to use a personal computer, skill in the use of MS Excel and Access software programs, ability to work effectively and congenially as part of a team, ability to work independently and be self motivated. Skills or coursework in GIS and basic fish and habitat sampling techniques are a plus. Candidates with a concentration in aquatic science studies are desired.
