Student Internship Program
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department
Program Objective
To introduce interested college students, particularly women and minorities, to career opportunities in positions located statewide and job settings in which to gain practical experience and training in natural and cultural resource fields.
Program Information
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's (TPWD) Intern Program is primarily for college students. Both paid and unpaid positions may be offered depending on available funding. The number of available positions and locations will be published after funding is finalized. While most of our Internships are for the Summer, there may be some during the Fall and/or the Spring.
The Program is very competitive for all positions (paid and unpaid). Students interested in becoming an Intern must submit the following documents:
- TPWD Intern Application (PWD 0068e) – see below under “Application Requirements” to download;
- TPWD Authorization and Consent for Disclosure of Criminal History Form (PWD 1039) - see below under “Additional Information” or “Application Requirements” to download;
- And at least one (1) of the following: copy of official transcript[s]; copy of unofficial transcript[s]; or transcript[s] marked "issued to student." Degree plans will NOT be accepted.
For current Intern Opportunties listing see below under “Additional Information”.
Note: Lack of any of the required documents makes your application incomplete and it will not be considered. Resumes are not accepted in lieu of required documents.
Program Duration and Funding
The student internship program employment period varies depending on specific intern opportunity.
Note: If selected for a paid opportunity, intern will be paid at the rate of pay reflected from the completed hours on the fall transcript. The spring semester credit hours do not count towards the rate of pay for the internship. The reason for this is that the interns' hire paperwork is completed in the spring before the semester ends.
