Don't Get Tagged!

In the last two years, there have been over 3,700 Parks and Wildlife citations issued for tagging violations with fines up to $500 per violation.

Tagging Fish

A fish with the tag attached at the narrowest part of the tail

Immediately upon retaining a fish:

  • Remove tag from license and use entire tag.
  • Fill in ALL information spaces on front of tag.
  • CUT OUT day and month
  • Attach tag with a string or wire to the narrowest part of the tail, just ahead of the tail fin.

Tagging Deer or Turkey

Tag with month and date removed, and ranch and county filled in.

Immediately upon retaining a deer or turkey:

  • Remove appropriate tag from license.
  • Fill in ALL information (ranch, wildlife area, etc. and county) on back of tag.
  • CUT OUT day and month
  • Securely attach tag anywhere on deer or turkey so that it is not damaged, defaced or lost in transporting or handling.
  • Don't forget to fill out the White-tailed Deer Log (if applicable).
