It’s that time of year again for the Friends of Seminole Canyon State Park & Historic Site's The Rock Art Foundation’s (RAF) most exciting event!
The format will focus on site tours making as many available as possible. No reservations are required for RAF tours but registration is required for the Rendezvous. For those of you who haven’t participated before, the event includes camping at the Preserve, entertainment Saturday night, sweet rolls, juice and coffee on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings, a BBQ dinner on Saturday night (we are unable to provide menu changes), and all RAF arranged tours - all for $65 per adult. Dinner on Friday and lunches are not provided. Children under age 12 with parents can attend and participate free of charge although most tours are not suitable for small children.
RAF tours will include White Shaman, Halo, Meyers Springs, Bonfire Shelter/Eagle Cave and the Curly Tail Panther site.
Seminole Canyon State Park will offer Presa Canyon, Upper Canyon and Fate Bell Shelter tours over the weekend. Fees for these tours must be paid directly to the Park at the time of the tour. Fate Bell Shelter is Wednesday through Sunday at 10 a.m. and again at 3 p.m. You must be preregister for the Presa and Upper Canyon Hikes, call the Park at (432) 292-4464 and for more tour details.
The White Shaman Preserve is located 40 miles west of Del Rio on Hwy 90 close to the confluence of the Pecos and Rio Grande Rivers – just 1.5 miles west of Seminole Canyon State Park.
Gates will open at noon on Friday. Thursday afternoon arrival and Monday morning departure is possible – let us know before making your plans. Portable toilets will be available and all Rendezvous participants may use the shower/restroom facilities at Seminole Canyon State Park. Pets will not be allowed at Rendezvous as they can create a danger and disturbance for other participants. Please do not bring your pets or generators.
What to bring:
Camping and hiking equipment, dishes/silverware, and cups (washing area will be provided for clean up), lunch, snacks and beverages.
Checks or credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, and Discover) can be accepted. Please help us plan, and make your reservations by Monday, October 1.
