19th century superstitions and old wives tales

Bad luck, omens and weird coincidences often haunt our imaginations.  Superstitions and old wives’ tales still add some color to our lives; a lot of them are laughed off as nonsense, but there are some that seem to be, at least in part, legitimate.  In the 1800’s superstitions and old wives’ tales held much more sway over society.  On November 17^th we’ll look at some these tales and try to see why they had power over us.

Presentation times are 11:00 AM, 1:00PM and 3:00PM and the program will last approximately thirty-five to forty minutes. This program is open to all ages but children must be accompanied by an adult. Dress appropriately for the season as the presentation takes place in a period setting. Held at Washington on the Brazos SHS 23400 Park Rd. 12, Washington, TX 77880.
