Hit the trail with us on New Year's Day 2015 and hike off that Christmas ham. Bring your favorite people, water, and favorite hiking boots as we will trek three different trails this time.
If you are up to a 3-mile moderate hike, meet at the park headquarters at 2 pm and join a park ranger down the Nopales Ridge Trail.
If you would rather take it easy or have young kids, we will also offer an easy half-mile hike on the Opossum Loop. Meet at the Texas Oak Trailhead at 2 pm.
After these two hikes, we will have hot cocoa (or cold water) and good fellowship around a campfire.
New this year is a history hike down the Lakeside Trail at 4 pm. Meet the park ranger at the trailhead near the softball field and enjoy good stories about how the park became what it is today. This hike is about 1.5 miles and involves only slight climbs.
All hikes are offered with regular paid entrance to the park. Current fees are $4 per person 13 and older. Kids 12 and under are free! Please call the park office for any further information at (325) 784-5223.
