On September 4, 2011 the most destructive wildfire in Texas history engulfed Bastrop State Park. Now on the third anniversary of that fire, come and see how the forest is recovering.
Join the park interpreter for a short hike to discuss the wildfire of 2011 and its effects on Bastrop State Park. We'll discuss the origin of the fire, how it was fought ,and how it has changed the landscape of Bastrop State Park, and how we're recovering from it.
Bring comfortable shoes, water. The hike will be approximately one mile and features some uphill sections over uneven terrain. Meet at the picnic area by the playground.
