Appropriate for all ages and skills of birders. This easy walk goes over fairly level terrain.
Meet a Park Ranger at the Goose Island State Park fishing pier for a morning bird walk. Participants will look for birds and use field marks to try and identify the species seen. An important part of birding is being familiar with how to use your binoculars. At the beginning of the walk we will go over how to adjust binoculars, some of the birds we will see are large and stationary and perfect to practice on.
When: Wednesday 8:30 a.m.
Where to meet: The parking area next to the fishing pier.
What are we doing: Identify birds, become familiar with your binoculars, and use field marks to identify birds.
Things to bring: Binoculars, water, sun screen, shoes suitable for walking, a camera, and be sure to wear weather appropriate clothing. There will be a few pairs of binoculars available for loan, but it is best to bring your own.
Fees: There is no fee for attending the program. Although a valid park entrance permit is required to access the day use area. Day Entry fees are $5 per person 13 years of age and up, children 12 and under are free.
