Erosion is one of the biggest issues in Bastrop State Park following the 2011 wildfire. We can mitigate some of these effects by installing straw logs, or wattles, on steep and eroding hillsides. This work is difficult and involves walking up and down steep, rocky hills, carrying straw bulky logs, bending and using hand tools. It is appropriate for ages 14 and up only.
