One-hundred and fifty years ago the Golden-cheeked Warbler was discovered in Texas. To celebrate this beautiful bird, Guadalupe River State Park, with the support of the Park’s Friends Group, is throwing a party.
-- Join us for a morning of up close and personal looks at songbirds through our popular Bird in the Hand banding program, from 9 a.m. to Noon;
-- Ttake a hike in search of the warbler and other birds in Honey Creek State Natural Area, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Rust House;
-- Play games and participate in activities to learn more about birds from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
-- Have a piece of birthday cake courtesy of the Friends Group at 1 p.m.
The activities will take place near the Discovery Center This event is free with a Park Pass or a $7 daily pass (children ages 12 and under are free).
