The Montezuma Quail is undoubtedly one of our park's most notorious birds! People come from all over with the hopes of spotting this shy avian. Join a Ranger on a one mile hike to learn all about these animals and why the Davis Mountains are an excellent habitat for them. The hike, though short, has steep ascents and descents with loose rocks. We recommend you wear sturdy shoes and encourage you to bring enough water (16 oz. per hour of hiking). Bring your hiking sticks, as well.
Meet at the park's playground by 1:30PM. The hike will end at a bird viewing area, so bring your binoculars and feel free to stick around to bird watch afterward! Well behaved, leashed pets are welcome! The local humane society will have dogs available for the hike for any interested visitors, as well.
All offered programs are free of charge; regular entrance fees apply.
