(Some bikes and helmets are available to borrow – 1st come 1st serve basis, please request when making a reservation)
-Meet by the CCC Refectory parking lot
-Biking Times: 10:00am; 12:00pm; 2:00pm (2-3 miles)
-Difficulty level: Beginner. Join us at Palmetto for a fun introductory class to biking in State Parks! Enjoy the park’s trails and boardwalks through the swamp-like forests that surround the San Marcos River. We will have bikes available to borrow, how to’s on basic bike maintenance, bike riding etiquette and tips on safe riding.
-Bring: Cycling helmet, drinking water and eye protection (sunglasses). You may also want to bring a snack, sunscreen and a backpack or hydration pack (i.e. Camelbak).
-Driving Directions to Palmetto State Park: (From TPWD website)
To reach the park, travel 10 miles northwest of Gonzales on U.S. Highway 183 to FM 1586, then west on FM 1586 for 2 miles to Ottine, and south on Park Road 11; or go 6 miles southeast of Luling on U.S. Highway 183, and then southwest on Park Road 11 for 2 miles.
