Texas Parks and Wildlife, Inks Lake State Park, the Inks Dam National Fish Hatchery and the Lower Colorado River Authority are sponsoring three forums about the serious threat of invasive mussels in the Highland Lakes. We will give an overview of the spread of mussels into water systems throughout the United States and into Texas. Then, top representatives from the LCRA (David Cowan, Clean Rivers Program Coordinator), USFWS (David Britton, AIS Coordinator, Fisheries & Aquatic Resource Conservation) and TPWD (Brian Van Zee, Regional Director Inland Fisheries) will share their perspectives and explain the measures you can take to help prevent the spread of zebra and quagga mussels into the Colorado River System by boats and other means. The forums are free and open to the public. Held at Kingsland Branch Library, 125 W. Polk Street, Kingsland, TX 78639 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
