Join Park Rangers for instruction in the fundamentals of kayaking, then take a guided paddling tour of the shores of Lake Livingston State Park.  While touring, we’ll be on the lookout for native wildlife, including herons, egrets, and eagles, and will discuss the history of Lake Livingston and some of its features and characteristics.

No experience necessary, and participation is open to any person aged 13 and up who is capable of the mild to moderate exertion of paddling on their own.  300 lb. weight limit per kayak.

Be prepared to get wet!  We recommend wearing water-tolerant shoes and a hat, and make sure you bring a water bottle!

There are a limited number of kayaks, so reservations are required.  Please contact Beth Tragus at 936-365-2201 x302 or email Beth.Tragus@tpwd.texas.gov to reserve your spot.  Sessions will be offered at 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.

Kayak with a Ranger will take place at the south boat launch, located next to the screened-shelter campsites inside Lake Livingston State Park.

Regular park admission fees of $5 per adult ages 13 and up apply; no additional charge for activities.

Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are provided by Lake Livingston State Park.

This event is subject to cancellation due to thunderstorms or high winds.
