Bastrop State Park is full of historic structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. From trails to cabins, dining halls and water fountains, many of the park's original facilities were constructed by this 1930s New Deal program. We'll ride from site to site to learn about the history and legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Their work in Bastrop is so significant, Bastrop State Park has been named a National Historic Landmark!
Join our interpretive ranger for this bike tour through the park. We'll be sticking to the park roads, so you can bring just about any type of bike.
There will be 1 easier section and 1 more difficult section of the ride. During the first section, we'll stick to the flatter areas of the park and tour several buildings/sites in the front of the park, then return to our starting location. This will be approximately 2 miles round trip. Then, we will continue to other areas which require more uphill and longer riding. This section is approximately 5 miles. Participants are welcome to leave after the first section, if they do not want to participate in the more strenuous ride.
