October offers a number of ways to explore the Ranching Heritage of Big Bend Ranch State Park depending on your interest and ability: Take a self-guided walking tour of the Sauceda Historic District, the headquarters during the evolution of ranching operations through the 1900’s or guide yourself around the park to appreciate the requirements for success in this remote, rugged, unforgiving country – ruins of earlier ranches, corrals, windmills, and miles of waterlines and fences. Only the park entrance fee is required for self-guided tours. Self-guided tours can be taken daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Or To really see and experience the vast scale of ranching in this 400 square mile park take a guided 4 x 4 Tour through the park or gain a totally different perspective on a guided Horseback Tour. For the guided tours the park entrance fee is required and fees for the particular tours depend on the number of participants and tour lengths. These guided tours are available daily by appointment.
Check the TPWD website or give us a call at (432) 358-4444 for more detailed information to help plan your visit.
