Hunter Education provides instruction in Texas hunting regulations, wildlife management and identification, conservation, ethics, firearm and hunting safety and responsibility, and outdoor skills. Course is particularly suited for novice or young hunters. All materials are provided and subjects are covered in depth to enable the student to successfully complete the Hunter Education certification process. Course averages about 14 hours over a two-day period. Cost is $15.00 per person. If you were born on or after September 2, 197, you must complete the hunters education course to receive your hunting license in the state of Texas. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult, ages 12 and up do not have to be accompanied by an adult for this class. The class will be held in the group dining hall on the Walnut Ridge side of the park. The facilities have restrooms and air-conditioning and a refrigerator to hold lunches and drinks if you want to bring your lunch or there will be an hour for lunch on long days and you may leave and come back. Dress comfortable and casual. No Pets are allowed in class. The instructor will be Mr. Don Barker. Sign up is through Martin Dies Jr. Headquarters and space is limited.
