One of the most photographed pictograph sites in the lower Pecos - on its walls is encapsulated the mythology of the prehistoric inhabitants of the Lower Pecos region. The tour takes approximately 90 minutes with a 250' descent into a narrow brushy canyon. It can be extremely hot and humid. The trail is steep with loose rocks and uneven footing. The roundtrip is approx. 1.5 miles—this is a strenuous hike.
To help preserve this site, no pets are allowed, and for their safety they cannot be left in an unattended vehicle.
The gate to the Galloway White Shaman Preserve site is approximately 42 miles West of Del Rio on Highway 90 – approximately 1.5 miles west of Seminole Canyon State Park. If you go over the Pecos River high bridge, you've gone too far.
