Cover-Beach Tidings

Here in Texas, our beach water comes from the Gulf of Mexico, a special part of the Atlantic Ocean. Because of its bowl shape, the Gulf of Mexico seems a lot like its own ocean.

The Gulf of Mexico is very important to Texas. Many Texans fish there to earn money. Others fish there for fun.

Every beach we have in Texas is located on the Gulf of Mexico. Land along the Gulf of Mexico is called the "Gulf Coast." Not all of the Gulf Coast has beaches with waves. Some of the water touches the land via bays and estuaries.

Gulf of MexicoSee the yellow part? Those are our Texas beaches. The blue is the ocean of the Gulf of Mexico. The green is the land of United States, including part of Texas.
