Angling Opportunities

Diversion's fish populations have been adversely affected by recent golden alga fish kills. Largemouth bass restocking occurred during 2005. The current lake record (10.23 lbs.) was caught in November 2000. White bass fishing is fair, with legal-size fish present. Crappie abundance is low. Catfish are present.

Fishing Cover/Structure

Submerged vegetation can be found along the north side of the lake west of the boat ramp cove. Emergent vegetation is found along much of the shoreline. The dam and surrounding area is rip rap or large rock. West of the boat ramp cove, large areas of submerged trees and stumps can be found.

Tips & Tactics

For largemouth bass, fish the docks and vegetated coves on the north side of the lake. The dam face also can be productive. White bass can be caught year round, but the best catches are in the upper lake early in the year during the spawning migration. The crappie population is currently low lake-wide. Catfish can be found throughout the reservoir using punch bait or shad.
