How to Use the Public Hunt Drawing System

The hunt category name and hunt category code is already printed on each application card. Be sure to use the correct card(s) when filling out your application from the booklet. On the application card(s), completely fill out:

If you use the Interactive Drawn Hunt Search, it will help you fill out the application form automatically. Applicants must print the application cards, fill them out and mail them in with a check or money order.

A correctly completed application card must be received at the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department's Austin Headquarters by 5:00 p.m. on the deadline day for the concerned hunt category in order to be entered in the drawing. Application deadlines may be found immediately below each Hunt Category title.

Only one application per person in a hunt category (example, Gun Deer Either Sex) will be allowed. In the event two or more applications are received for an individual within the same hunt category, all applicantson those application forms will be disqualified. It does not matter where your name appears on an application form, that is your application for that hunt category. Even if you apply for another area or on another persons application card for the SAME HUNT CATEGORY, EVERYONE on those cards WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

Some hunts within the Gun Deer Categories (Either-Sex or Antlerless/Spike Only) are restricted to Muzzleloaders and/or Shotguns Only or Buck Only or other restrictions. Applicants should read the hunt descriptions carefully and keep this in mind when selecting an area for which to apply.

Only the drawn hunters that pay the required Special Permit fee will be allowed access to hunt areas while hunts by Special Permit are in progress. Other than a non-hunting adult assisting a permitted disabled person, no exceptions will be made for family members or other non-permitted guests.

No substitutions may be made for the persons listed on applications or permits if selected.

The Parks and Wildlife Department retains the right to cancel permits, alter bag limits, or terminate a hunt at any time there is a danger to the general public, wildlife resources, or to the management area facilities. If a hunt is canceled the full permit fee will be refunded and the preference point status of permittees will be reinstated.

You may register by mail using the Application Cards in the back of the Special Drawing and Regular Permit Hunting Opportunities booklet . You may also print and mail in application cards filled out using the Interactive Drawn Hunt Search
