This large, relatively heavy bird with a long, broad blue tail and down curved bill is fond of forested areas, forest edges, and second growth as well as backyards across Texas. Generally, this bird is going to be found in areas of significant cover, and most U.S. sightings have been in areas of dense vegetation. This Texas Review Species has been recorded in all regions except the High Plains and Rolling Plains.
This bird is a Texas Bird Records Committee review species. All occurrences should be reported to the committee with detailed documentation to enhance our knowledge of this bird in the state.
