Description: This community occurs as a gallery woodland along streams and rivers in the western Edwards Plateau and Stockton Plateau. Platanus occidentalis is dominant and often the only tree, although Salix nigra may be present as well. Typical shrubs include Juglans microcarpa, Baccharis neglecta, or B. salicifolia. Other abundant species may include Panicum virgatum, Schizachyrium scoparium, and others common in the surrounding landscape.
