Federal Candidate Species in Texas

These species do not have regulatory protection; however, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department strongly encourages surveys, monitoring, data collection and sharing, and conservation actions to help prevent the need to list these species. This table will be updated regularly and it contains links to species accounts for candidates. Recent changes include updates for Lesser Prairie Chicken and four central Texas salamanders.
