The land in this part of Texas is found along the ocean of the Gulf of Mexico.


Alligators and crabs live along the shore. Alligators like to float and swim in the water. Then they lie on rocks or land in the warm sun.


Blue crabs have blue legs.


Fiddler crabs have one large front claw and one small front claw. If one breaks off another one grows back in its place!


This bird is called a spoonbill because it has a bill shaped like a spoon!

Long ago, Texas was part of Mexico. Texans fought Mexican soldiers at San Jacinto. The Texans won the battle. Texas no longer belonged to Mexico.
