Speedy Sprinters

The pronhorn antelope, the fastest land animal in North America, can run about 60 mph for short distances. It could run the 25-yard dash in less than one second! The pronghorn's ablility to run fast helps it get away from speedy predators.

Challenge: Compare your speed to a pronghorn's speed.

1. Mark off 50 yards. The first 25 yards is to gain speed.
2. Start the timer when the runner has reached the 25yd mark.
3. Stop the timer when the runner reaches the 50yd mark.
