Speedy Sprinters
The pronhorn antelope, the fastest land animal in North America, can run about 60 mph for short distances. It could run the 25-yard dash in less than one second! The pronghorn's ablility to run fast helps it get away from speedy predators.
Challenge: Compare your speed to a pronghorn's speed.
- Mark off 50 yards. The first 25 yards is to gain speed.
- Start the timer when the runner has reached the 25yd mark.
- Stop the timer
when the runner reaches the 50yd mark.

How Do You Compare?
- Who was the speediest runner in your group?
- How do these adaptations help the pronghorn as prey?
