
Drummond's Phlox
Phlox drummondii
Drummond's phlox (pronounced flocks) grow in fields and along roadsides in east, south and central Texas. They are red, pink, blue, purple, and white. In 1834, Thomas Drummond gathered their seeds near Gonzalez and took them back to England for garden planting.
- There are many types of phlox growing across Texas.
- Phlox grow a few inches tall, but some grow to 20 inches high.
- Blooms May through October.
- The flower is part of the phlox family.
