What Are We Doing?

- Report to Texas Legislature documented areas of needed research.
- Texas Legislature authorized TPWD to use funds from increased user fees for research grants to outside scientists in FY2004.
- U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service State Wildlife Grant T-14-P was awarded to TPWD for FY 2004 to assess historical events, perform a statewide survey, create a web site, and study the genetics of golden alga (to determine how the Texas golden alga compares to golden alga in other areas).
Golden Alga Workshop
- A successful workshop was held in Oct 2003.
- An international group of experts assembled in Fort Worth, Texas and outlined an ambitious plan for dealing with golden alga blooms.
- Our objective was to review the known information and determine priorities and needs for Texas.
