What is T.O.W.N.?

Many women who had attended a "Becoming an Outdoors-Woman" workshop wanted to practice the outdoor skills they'd learned, but felt they didn't know any other women in their hometown who shared their love of the outdoors. Realizing there was a need, several BOW alumni started T.O.W.N. groups in their cities as a way for women to meet other women with a similar interest in outdoor recreation.

Membership is a great, stress free way to involve yourself in the outdoors. The beauty of the group is that each one has members interested in a wide variety of activities. So if you are looking to find an outdoor hobby that fits you this is the place to sample a little of everything.

Local T.O.W.N. groups hold monthly meetings and coordinate fieldtrips in a variety of outdoor activities for its members. You need not have attended at BOW workshop or necessarily have any outdoor experience to join the fun.

What is T.O.W.N.'s mission?

To provide all women the opportunity to experience outdoor activities in a safe, non-threatening, and supportive environment.

Is there a T.O.W.N. group near me?

More Information

There is no T.O.W.N. group near me. How do I start one?

Texas Parks & Wildlife Department's Outdoor Woman Program holds the copyright to the T.O.W.N. name so all chapters must be registered with our office. We can help you set up a chapter in your area by providing you contact names of other successful T.O.W.N. groups across Texas and offering other informational support. It is our goal to see the chapters become self-sufficient. For more information, please call (281) 534-0126.
