Field Care of Big Game
- Remove skin as quickly as possible when you return to camp or your vehicle
- Get the carcass into a gamebag to help it cool and keep flies and dirt off
- Hang the bagged carcass in the shade to cool.
- Do not wrap the carcass or head
in plastic at any time. - Keep meat and cape out of the sun, away from the heat
- Allow air to circulate around the meat and cape at all times, even during transporting
If you're going to mount the complete head, skin along dotted line as shown - get to taxidermist or freeze head as soon as possible
