Understanding Wildlife
Habitat Loss
How bad is it?
Wetlands:
More than half of America's waterfowl and wildlife areas have been drained and/or plowed.
Streams and Rivers:
In 1992, 38 states issued warnings about eating fish from their rivers and streams. In 1995, 48 states issued warnings about fish and nine states warned about waterfowl, due to danger of eating those that might be contaminated with pesticides or metals.
The Land:
In the West, most of the major cities have more than doubled in size in the last 20 years.
America is losing more habitat yearly
