Bats - The Crowded Skies of Texas Summer Nights
August nights are full of life. Since this is the time of year that young
Mexican free-tailed bats begin to fly with their parents on nightly feeding
flights, it is the best time to watch bats. Because most free-tailed females
give birth to 1 pup each year, the population in some nursery roosts almost
doubles, making for a lot more activity come dinner time. In the fall, most
of these bats will migrate south for the winter, so now is the time to check
