Regional Hummingbird Diversity
Each of the ecoregions of Texas features its unique geographic and biological features that create a diverse habitat for hummingbirds found there. A quick look at the regional lists will show that no one ecoregion of Texas is limited to one species of hummingbird. Texas’ hummingbird diversity is spread across the Lone Star State.

Some hummingbirds are more likely to be found than others. Within the state, seven species of hummingbird are identified as review species by the Texas Bird Records Committee. These birds, highlighted with an asterisk in the lists on the following pages, are birds that we would like to receive a detailed account of any occurrence for, as well as photos, sound recordings, video tapes, etc. The Rare Species Report form in your survey shows the information needed.
