Urban Biologist
Rufus Stephens; interviewer: Patrick
TPWD urban biologists serve the San Antonio, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Lower Rio Grande Valley and El Paso areas. Eighty percent of Texans live in or near urban areas, so these biologists spend much of their time providing technical assistance to builders, schools and homeowners about preserving and managing wildlife and wildlife habitat. Biologists choosing this path must be skilled in wildlife ecology and have outstanding communication skills.
