Caption/Information: Cedar Chop — Charles Sims of Cedar Hill, TX, (center) cuts the ribbon during the 20th Anniversary ceremony at Cedar Hill State Park on Saturday. The ceremony culminated the completion of more than $6 million in improvements and upgrades to the park located in the suburban Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Sims, retired Cedar Hill fire chief, was also present for the park’s original ribbon cutting in 1991, and helped lobby in Washington, D.C. for the original creation of the reservoir and surrounding parkland. Sims is flanked by Cedar Hill State Park Superintendent Mike Spradling (immediate left), State Park Regional Director Ellen Buchanan (far left), members of Cub Scout Pack 788 (immediate right), and Texas Parks and Wildlife Executive Director Carter Smith (far right).
