TPWD News Release — Jan. 11, 2011
AUSTIN – Roy T. Brockway* of Kaufman is the envy of his co-workers in the Plano Fire Department after being selected the latest winner in Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s lifetime license promotion drawing.
“I couldn’t wait to tell my co-workers at the fire department,” he said.
The avid bass angler says he entered online for a chance to win a Lifetime Texas Resident Super Combo Hunting and Fishing License after setting up an account on the TPWD Web site two years ago.
“I set up the account to renew mine and my wife’s licenses every year,” Brockway said. “It made it easy to go in and renew. I got this prompt asking me if I wanted to enter for a chance to win a lifetime license and I did. That was the best $5 I ever spent!”
Entries for the next Lifetime License Drawing cost $5 each and can be purchased anywhere hunting and fishing licenses are sold, as well as on the TPWD Web site. Participants can purchase as many entries as they like, and winners are allowed to give the license as a gift to family or friends who are Texas residents. The next drawing will be held June 30.
Proceeds from the drawing will help fund the Parks and Wildlife Department’s conservation efforts.
Winners are exempted from purchasing state hunting and fishing stamps, although they will not be exempted from the Federal Duck Stamp Requirement. The price of a lifetime hunting and fishing license is $1,800.
