Biologists Sampling Coast to Prepare for Oil Spill - Texas Parks and Wildlife [Official]
Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists are working their way down the state's coastline collecting environmental samples so that a baseline record is available to gauge any impact in Texas from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Louisiana Pelican Release in Texas - Texas Parks and Wildlife [Official]
Several rehabilitated brown pelicans and 1 Forrester tern were transported from Louisiana to the Aransas National Wildife Refuge near Rockport. The birds were banded and released. A January cold snap impacted record numbers of green sea turtles along the Texas coast. State and federal agencies, along with a network of volunteers, recovered over 425 turtles, of which 153 were rescued alive.
