Texas Hunter Education Traditional Two-Day Course

Instruction includes Texas hunting regulations, wildlife management and identification, conservation, ethics, firearm and hunting safety and responsibility, and outdoor skills. This course is designed for novice or young hunters. All materials are provided and subjects are covered in depth to enable the student to successfully complete the Hunter Education certification process.
The traditional hunter education course averages 14 hours of instruction over two or more days. Courses are offered across the state year round and are taught by certified volunteer instructors. You need to make a reservation with the instructor to attend a course. Check with the instructor for directions and any special instructions prior to going to class.
The cost is $15.

When you arrive at the course:
- Fill out a student registration form.
- Pay the $15 state fee to the instructor.
- Attend the entire course.
- Take the written exam and get at least 70% correct to pass.

Upon successful completion, you will receive a temporary card. Your instructor will send in the originals for processing. You may legally hunt with a valid license and your temporary certification card. Your permanent card will be mailed out within a short period of time.
