Animals of the Gulf Waters

Atlantic bonito
Sarda sarda

Atlantic bonito, like their relatives the tuna, come to the Gulf Coast of Texas during the warmer months. There, they feed on fish and squid near the surface of the open waters.

You can tell bonito by the series of dark stripes that run from their backs to the midline of the fish.
