Bluefish
Pomatomus saltatrix
Bluefish don't grow very large along the Gulf Coast, averaging only one to two pounds. In the Atlantic, though, they grow much larger, some reaching more than three feet in length.
They live with red snappers, too, preferring the flat areas on the tops and around the bases of the snapper banks to their stepply sloping sides.
