Animals of the Gulf Waters
Permit
Trachinotus falcatus
Permits are deep-bodied, silvery fish that prefer the warmer waters of the Gulf. They stray northward during the heat of the summer but may move down the coast of South American with the winter's chill.
Young permits live in the surf with their look-alike kin, young pompano.
