Red snapper
Lutjanus campechanus
Red snappers feed on crab, squid, shrimp and small fish which they find near reefs, oil rigs and other underwater structures. Some reefs are even called snapper banks because they're home to so many of these fish.
Red snappers and their snapper kin suport strong commercial and sports fisheries.
