Striped bass
Morone saxatilis
Striped bass can live in salt or fresh water. These fish spend most of their adult lives in the Gulf but run up rivers in early spring to spawn.
Rare off the Texas coast, striped bass have been introduced into many rivers and reservoirs around the state where they seem to be doing fine despite the lack of salt water.
