La Monilla
The dark green color of the guayacan, sharp howl of the coyote and bright colors of the Scott Oriole in flight surround the La Monilla campsite, which is located on mostly level ground in a pleasantly open area. On a non-hazy day, excellent views of The Solitario and the Chisos Mountains remind you that you’re still in the high desert mountains with their closeness. Traditionally a site for gathering and holding livestock, the remnants of near-by catch pens and watering sources tell the historic story of the many years of livestock production in the Big Bend area.
