Events http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us daily 1 2009-07-23T16:14:15Z First Day Hikes http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/calendar/first-day-hikes-37 Join us for a staff-guided scenic hike from Keesey Canyon, to a hilltop overlooking grasslands on a historic Civilian Conservation Corp road. Hike is approx. 3.5 miles round trip  and lasts about three hours .Hikers are encouraged to bring plenty of water, dress appropriately, and bring sturdy shoes and a hiking stick.  Meet at Interpretive Center.

Held at Davis Mountains State Park, 16431 Park Road 3, Fort Davis, TX 79734, the hike is approximately 3.5 miles round trip and is open to everyone (dogs on leashes included). Bring water, wear sturdy shoes and dress warmly! Trail is of moderate difficulty. We will meet at the Interpretive Center at 1:00PM and return at approximately 3:00PM. Daily entrance fee required ($6/adult, 12 and under free).

Come take advantage of the waning moon and experience the awe-inspiring beauty of our stars! You'll learn some common constellations and how to find them, plus there will be a telescope to take a closer look at some amazing astronomical objects!

Meet at the Skyline Drive stone overlook by 8:15 p.m. Well behaved, leashed pets are welcome. Dress for the weather, as you will be outdoors. This program is subject to cancellation due to weather conditions and cloud cover.

]]> No publisher ncardena stargazing Davis Mountains SP 2013-03-04T15:10:00Z Event Guided Hike http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/calendar/guided-hike-7 Tag along on a Ranger led hike on one of our great trails! Davis Mountains State Park and the Indian Lodge were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and both parks are rich in history. Join a Ranger on a guided hike to learn more about the CCC, our parks, and the legacy that has been left behind. The 2.5 mile hike is of moderate difficulty and will take approximately 2 hours. We recommend you wear sturdy shoes and encourage you to bring enough water (16 oz. per hour of hiking).

Meet at the park's playground by 9:30AM. The hike will end at the Indian Lodge and Black Bear Restaurant, so if you plan to eat a post-hike lunch be sure to bring your wallet! Well behaved, leashed pets are welcome! The local humane society will have dogs available for the hike for any interested visitors, as well.
