Low Water Alert

NOTICE (4/26/13): Currently the Devils River from Baker's Crossing to Lake Amistad is far below minimum recommended flow levels for paddling trips. TPWD recommends that paddling trips be rescheduled to coincide with the return of at least minimum recommended flow conditions.

250 CFS is the minimum flow recommended at Baker's Crossing, for paddling. The current reading is 113 CFS_2.11 feet at the Baker's Crossing gage (http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=ewx&gage=bkct2). 350 CFS is teh minimum recommended flow at Pafford Crossing. The current flow is 124 CFS_1.98 feet at the Pafford gage (http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=ewx&gage=cmkt2&hydro_type=0). These extremely low water levels are resulting in profound float time duration and uncertainty, boat damage, paddler safety concerns (extended exposure), and river habitat damage from paddlers dragging boats. In addition, water quality conditions are sub-optimum. You can find additional information at http://www.srh.noaa.gov/wgrfc/wgrfclegacy.php (scroll over the correct gauge station on the map for quick flow data in CFS).
